b]Server > Connect (if you don't already have the Mumble Server Connect window up).
Go into the Custom Servers tab, and enter the following:
Label: Moonshyne
Address: myoukochou.com
Port: (this will be the default) 64738
Username: Put your WoW character name here
Password: kittyclawspanic
Down at the bottom, click Add (third from the left) to add the Moonshyne voice chat server to the list, and then hit Connect.
It'll prompt you to check the SSL certificate; accept (it's valid).
That'll connect you to our voice server, and you can then chat to everyone else who's logged in to it, but you might want to set it up a bit more before actually using it.
In Configure > Settings, here are some important things you might want to set up.
----------------------- Setup ----------------------
Push To Talk By default, Mumble uses Voice Activated transmission; it transmits when you're speaking.
If you want Push To Talk instead of Voice Activity, which would be a good idea if you're in a rather noisier room or risk getting echoes, Select Audio Input - Transmission - Transmit -> Push To Talk mode, and go into Shortcuts and define the shortcut you want to use for Push To Talk (when you hold it down, you'll transmit voice, when you release, it'll stop).
Remember to click Apply or OK to leave the window, to save the settings.
Mumble keeps talking to me as Stephen Hawking!<Remember to click Apply or OK to leave the window, to save the settings.
Overlay By default, Mumble puts a big fat overlay with enormous names over your WoW display. They're a little unwieldy and ugly, so get rid of them or customise them.
In the settings, tick Expert Config, and in the new ones that pop up, the bottom one (scroll down) is Overlay.
If you hate it and want to get rid of it, that's the first checkbox. If you want to customise it, that's the rest of the panel (in particular, if you want a sane font size instead of the big names, look under Set Font).
Remember to click Apply or OK to leave the window, to save the settings.
FAQs
Troubleshooting If the audio keeps breaking up, try going into Audio Output and increasing/reducing Default Jitter Buffer and Output Delay, remembering to press Apply, and see if that helps. Some soundcard drivers are flaky.
Why didn't you use TeamSpeak? Because Mumble's better, and it's completely free and open-source.
Why didn't you use Ventrilo? Because Mumble's (arguably) better, and it's completely free and open-source; compare with Ventrilo, who are insane and don't even let you run legal Vent servers yourself unless you're reselling themServer[/b] > Connect (if you don't already have the Mumble Server Connect window up).
